Watercolor Passion

December 19 2013

December 9- January 31, 2014

Watercolor Passion, the new exhibit at the John O’ Lague Galleria at the Hayward City Hall features the work of Annie Boddum, Sheila Fimreite, Dawn Hyde, Sally Lampi, Dorothy Lyons, Jan Matsuoka, Molly McKenzie, Nan Soldahl, and Grace Yun.

The impressive watercolor artwork delights the viewers with powerful and colorful details representing the vision of nine artists from the Watercolor Connection Group. We are constantly challenging and learning new techniques to improve our work. Not only are we supportive and encouraging of one another, but we have become friends, said Dorothy Lyons. The watercolor group has been painting together for over seven years. Their creative expression for the medium is represented in this fabulous collection. I love that you can look at a watercolor painting everyday and see something new, something whimsical, something illusive, and something magical, added Molly McKenzie.

Sponsored by the Hayward Arts Council, the show will be in view through January 31, 2014. Get ready to be fascinated by these brilliant and vibrant watercolor paintings!

The Art Of Ray McGinnis

October 1 2013

Experience a visual treat of fine art paintings — carousel horses, tree houses, landscapes, magicians and dragons.

Hayward artist Ray McGinnis will exhibit over 30 paintings at the John O’Lague

Galleria in the Hayward City Hall, 777 B St., Sept. 27  through Nov. 26.

A reception for the artist will be held on Friday, Oct. 4, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Ray McGinnis considers himself an illustrator/fine artist. He studied art at the College of San Mateo and the Hollywood Arts School and also took private lessons.

Ray’s goal in the future is to do more portrait painting. He loves to push the envelope to see how far he can go in any particular artistic endeavor in painting and sculpture.

He has created murals made of clay, logos cut out of steel, and a concrete pedestal for a sculpture outside the Weekes Library in Hayward.

The whimsical art of Ray McGinnis will be on display in Hayward through Nov. 26.
