Veterans Day Celebration in Hayward

Alameda County’s annual Veterans Day ceremony will bring out some of the country’s finest war veterans including key note speaker, Chief Pharmacist Mate David Lee Holly Sr. who served in the Korean War. Holly is one of the survivors of the 1950 sinking of the U.S.S. Benevolence just four miles outside of San Francisco Bay Harbor, and at age 81, Holly is a college student. The ceremony’s master of ceremonies will be Conway Jones Jr., a retired Air Force Captain and local Alameda County resident. Refreshments will be offered before and after the ceremony at City Hall.

AMVETS Post Meetings

Dear Veteran,

We the members of AMVETS Hayward Post 911 would like to invite honorably discharged veterans to apply to become a member of our Post.

Our Post meetings are on the first Thursday of every Month, with Executive meetings starting at 6:30PM and the main Post meeting starting at 7:00PM – sharp.

Our Post meetings location is: Hayward Veterans Memorial Building, 22737 Main Street, Hayward, 94541. In downtown Hayward near the main Fire Station.


Post dues:  Yearly Post membership dues are $35 or one time Life membership dues are $250 (going up to $300 at the end of this year).  If you would like to apply, please bring a copy of your DD214/discharge papers and a check for your dues.  We have the applications. All veterans over age 80 pay NO dues, and become Life Members upon your acceptance into AMVETS and Post 911.
